Case Design Spotlight – Darrell Smith

We caught up with a former client, Darrell Smith, who used Case Design to remodel multiple rooms in his home, and asked him to share his experience with us for our first Client Spotlight post.

While on the search for a contractor, Darrell was recommended to Case by his coworker. She knew he had just purchased a new home and suggested that professionals take on all of his larger projects. That recommendation was followed by another, when Darrell’s neighbor told him Case was the perfect company to take on the renovation.

“After searching for myself online, on sites like Angie’s List, I decided on Case. The reviews explained that the contractors were knowledgeable and professional,” Darrell said.

Darrell sought to renovate three fourths of the house’s top floor. His master bedroom, master bathroom and hallway bathroom were to be gutted and in order to complete the project, Case would have to take down a load-bearing wall.

To begin his renovation, Darrell called Case and was assigned an architect and a designer. “They came to the house and took measurements and pictures. Then they went back to their Design Studio and came up with three really great floor plans,” Darrell explained. Even after the duo had created the plans Darrell got to adjust them to make his project even more personalized. Case even helped him choose materials that were perfect for him, in terms of style and maintenance.

They finalized the floor plan and brought in several of the best plumbers, electricians and architects in the region. “The specialists assessed potential issues without pulling up a single tile.” During the renovation, Darrell says there were no hiccups. The team kept to their budget and timetable, something he was not anticipating. “I was expecting some delays in the schedule, I figured that always happened with contractors, but Case was different. Each specialist came in at a designated time, which was pretty efficient.”

After everything was said and done, Darrell and Case created a beautiful top floor. The space in the master bedroom and bathroom increased after Case removed the load-bearing wall.

Though Darrell will most likely spend more time in the master suite, his favorite part of the renovation was the updated hallway bathroom. The bathroom, located at the top of the stairs, had a malfunctioning skylight that Case redesigned and highlighted. “It really has a WOW factor now. Every time someone sees it they tell me how good it looks.”

Darrell says his next project is a kitchen remodel and he wouldn’t trust any other company to do such a great job. “What could have been a very difficult and terrible remodel, Case made easy and extraordinary. I would definitely recommend them for any daunting remodeling job.”

Upon hearing that Case Design recently received the 2013 National Capitol Business Ethics Award from the National Capital Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, for their integrity and honesty, Darrell said, “I’m not shocked at all. I’m glad they won. They definitely deserve it. They treated me well as a customer and they did everything they said they were going to do.”
