Case Wins Two 2011 Chrysalis Awards

Bethesda, MD – May 19, 2011 – Case Design/Remodeling, Inc., a leading DC Metro area home improvement company, announced today that it has won two 2011 Chrysalis Awards, which honor the finest remodeling projects in the nation reflecting the professional excellence of the residential remodeling industry.

Eighty-one remodeling companies from across the US were named winners at the 18th annual Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence. The winning projects were selected from more than 400 entries, which were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure. Editors and writers of consumer publications, including Better Homes & Gardens and Southern Living magazines, among others, judge these national awards.

Now winning a total of ten Chrysalis Awards since 2000, Case Design/Remodeling received its first 2011 Chrysalis Award for a Kitchen Remodel Under $50,000, North Winner. The winning team included: Project Designer John Audet, Designer Jenny Hernandez, Project Manager Wayne Jackson and Craftsman Gary Speicher. The condo owner wanted to update the kitchen to reflect her more contemporary taste as well as to increase the rental potential of the unit. The Case Design/Remodeling team started by increasing the connection from the kitchen to the dining room, creating a peninsula for more storage, and adding tray-style lighting on dimmers to the ceiling as well as additional lighting under the cabinets. A contemporary cabinet style, stainless pulls, glass tiles and proper lighting gave the homeowner the new look she wanted for her kitchen space.

Its second 2011 Chrysalis Award is for a Kitchen Remodel $75,000-$100,000, North Winner. Project Designer John Audet, Designer Lisa Cortright, Project Manager Wayne Jackson and Craftsman Gary Speicher listened to the owner's desire to utilize green materials and to keep the original footprint, which included a cafe space and large windows overlooking the yard. Case Design/Remodeling installed energy efficient Pella windows to eliminate heat loss and added cork flooring with extra insulation between the crawl space and the eat-in area with NuHeat electric floor heat increasing warmth. Crystal Green-core cabinets complemented the green theme, while chef-style appliances increased the owner's meal prep enjoyment.

"It's a true honor to be recognized for my work in designing these projects," says John Audet, Case Design/Remodeling's Project Designer on both winning remodels. "Working for a company like Case gives me the opportunity to work on various types of projects and incorporate many different tastes and styles, which I love. This honor is only possible with the help of the rest of my team involved."

"Winning awards in multiple categories is difficult to do," says Ken Kanline, Director of the Chrysalis Awards. "Not only does this speak to their versatility, but to their commitment to quality on every project."
