Keep in mind that basements are still a great area for storage. Leave part of the space unfinished for storing things away. Use built in cabinetry or bookshelves in the finished space. It’s very efficient storage and it looks great too.

Color

Lighter, neutral colors will make the space feel bigger than it is. Add splashes of bright color with furniture or accessories to liven up the room.

Flooring

A durable, easy to clean flooring material is important just in case of those unforeseen incidents. Adding rugs is a great way to warm up the space and add color.

If you have the space, a bathroom is a must have addition to a basement. If you make it into a full bath, your new space can now double as a guest suite.
