About Me

Matt Dirksen's family

At a very young age I developed a passion for two things: architecture and the outdoors. After I received my undergraduate Architecture degree, I spent many of my early professional years gaining experience in residential design, design build, and commercial construction. It wasn't until the late 90's when I combined my passions enrolling in the master's degree program at the San Francisco Institute of Architecture: the only school in the country which offered a degree emphasis on ecological design.

After my return to Washington D.C. in 2001, I began working as an architect at A.R. Meyers, Inc., a firm specializing in residential, multi-family, and commercial design. Having worked in a residential design/build firm in years past, it wasn't long before I became aware that I was not content with simply "writing sheet music", and wished to return to the profession which allowed me to be involved in both the design and construction process. And in the fall of 2003, I joined the Case team.

Nowadays, when I am not working, I am highly involved in tending to the needs of my wife and three children, as well as supporting the Boy Scouts and the City of Greenbelt in various ways. And I'm delighted to say that my family enjoys the outdoors as much as I do.

Recommendations

I would say that overall the experience was a dramatic improvement from the other contractor I had, and I am happy with the results. They worked through the hiccups at the end.
