If there is a separate kitchen, put a small TV and radio/stereo/iPod dock there. It will allow the cook who may be in there for hours, to watch TV, listen to music of his or her own choosing. It will allow the people in the family room to do something different. Design the family room so that there are surfaces to serve food on, that way, the cook doesn’t have to stay and serve from the kitchen.
